Overall, a decade l’m glad to see the back off.

Started the decade, diagnosed with Cancer. Fought and survived it with the Love and care of my sister Modupe Iyabo and close friends.

As we are both massive sports fan and looking forward to the 2012 Olympics in London as spectators and me working as Games Maker.

Disaster struck early in the year, as Modupe was given what turned out to be an even worse diagnose than Cancer. She was diagnosed with MND and the prognosis was not good, nor long.
We managed to fit in many long breaks in Europe and Home with friends and also couple of trips to Cuba in 2013.  
Early 2013 in Cuba, as she was still mobile, we followed some of the Cuban Revolutionary routes across the Country finishing off in Varadero for relaxation.  As the condition took more and more control of her and now wheelchair bound, we went back to Varadero, Cuba end of that year with friends for couple of weeks sunshine.

You left me and this World on 22nd April 2015, a week after your birthday, which l believed you enjoyed surrounded by myself and friends despite being really frail.

Taking you to your final resting places in Goa,India and Koh Samed, Thailand showed me beautiful places that you enjoyed during your many years of Globetrotting. I thank you.

A minute/day has not gone by that l’ve not thought about you.  I have several pictures of you, but nothing of your voice.  I sometimes think l hear you, but when l look back or around the faces are not yours.
Life goes on, alone.  I miss you and always will.

I had a mixed trip to Nigeria in 2017 to see to our long term sick mother. Did best l could to make her life comfortable.
Unfortunately, she passed away in 2018. The comfort l take from this is that she’s now reunited with you. Especially, as she was estranged from us both for many year, not her own fault, but inflected on her by our biological father. 

2019 brought couple of Happy moments as l joined in the Wedding celebration of first Dr. Emma Wilson to Ed, followed couple of months later by Dr. Katherine Howells to Abbas.  I felt you were there in Spirit and you would be so Happy and Proud of the success of the young Ladies.

Here’s to the next decade, whatever it brings.  Until we meet again.
